Beginning June 1, 2008 News for Kids from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will cease to exist. Replacing News for Kids is the brand new ajc in Education. What is ajc in Education? ajc in Education is a digital replica of the printed newspaper. It is not ajc.com (which only gives you 40% of the actual paper) and should not be confused with it. What are the advantages? ajc in Education eliminates ALL delivery issues. There are no more bulky papers to move around, get wet on rainy days, papers being delivered to the wrong areas, papers "missing" and give you the advantages of several functions not available to printed newspapers. It also eliminates the recycling problems and issues with extra papers lying around. What are the advantages of digital newspapers? The ajc in Education will allow students and teachers the ability to view all the text, pictures, and advertisements exactly as they are printed in daily paper, plus have the options to change screen layout, move easily through pages and sections, and save and send articles with the click of a button. Keyword searches give students the power to research any topic, person or event. There is also a 7 day archive feature. Is there a website to help? Yes! The new website is at www.edu.aj.com . On the site you will find a on-line training course, links to resources, lesson plans and special programs. The website will be fully functional by July 15th. So why are we telling you all this? The ajc in Education staff would like to give you the opportunity to try out the new digital edition this summer! Just go to the website on June 1 and register. You will be provided a link every morning by 5:30 a.m. at the email address you provide us. All we ask is that you provide us feedback on the features, accessibility and ease of use at the end of the summer. On June 1 (or later) go to edu.ajc.com to register for this brand new product. You can find our contact information on that page and we would love to hear from you during the summer about the digital edition and anything we can do help you!
