Q: Me and this other girl in my class both like the same guy. The other girl lied and said the guy was cheating on me! What should I do?

A:
Dear Friend No. 1,
First, thanks so much for emailing! I was feeling kind of bummed out about the summer being over and then I got your email and it reminded me of all the things I LOVE about the school year! My inbox is so empty during the summer months. Now to your question. I couldn't tell from your email whether you and the guy were dating? I'm assuming that you were, and your friend in a fit of jealousy, lied and said he was cheating on you ... when he wasn't. I'm imagining, I hope correctly, that you asked him and found out that your friend had made up the story. If I'm gathering all the facts correctly, then you've answered this question for yourself and, in the process, shared a really helpful situation with all of us. The answer? Go to the source. Life can get so complicated (from elementary school to grown-up-hood) when it becomes a game of telephone. A time of "I heard that you did because she said that she overheard you ..." when it is all so easily solved by *asking* the person about whom you're wondering. Asking, in this case, the guy if, indeed, it is true that he is/was cheating on you. Never simply believe what others tell you because, friends or not, you never know what the truth is unless you see it or hear it for yourself. Hope that helped, Friend No. 1!
Thanks for emailing,
Miss. Info

Have you a question
that's been stuck in your mind,
And nowhere you've looked
An answer did you find?
Well you're in the right place.
I assure you of that
'cause my name is Barry!
I'm your Answer Bat.
Just send me your question-
Be it big. Be it small.
Sometimes the lil ones
Are the best ones of all!
Why do those weird cicadas
only come out in spurts?
Why if I eat ice-cream
Too fast my head hurts?
I'll get you the answers,
Whatever it takes.
I'll search high, I'll search low,
Not stopping for breaks.
I'll be here each week,
on Wednesday for you.
And together we'll learn
a new thing or two.
