NIE is a cooperative effort between local schools and The Belleville News-Democrat to enhance learning through use of the local daily newspaper in the classroom. NIE offers a variety of exciting programs designed to improve reading, writing and critical thinking skills among elementary, middle and high school students. The integration of newspapers in the classroom allows teachers access to the most current news and information on a variety of topics while supporting academic standards requirements.
