Activities:

1. Paste a newspaper photo of a building on a piece of paper. Use a dark marker to change the front of the building. Use some of the ideas from this issue of The Mini Page.

2. Cut out newspaper photos of five buildings. Paste the pictures in a line from simplest design to most ornate.

3. Which architectural style do you like best? Why?

4. How were these important in the history of architecture: (a) columns, (b) Greece, (c) curves, and (d) steel frames?

5. Research one of the styles in today’s Mini Page. Design a school using those features. Explain your choices.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.

This week's standard:
Students know that the visual arts have both a history and specific relationships to various cultures. (Fine Arts: Visual Arts)

(standards by Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi)
