Activities:

1. Use newspaper words and pictures to make a poster to show important people and events in Roald Dahl’s life.

2. Make a list of Dahl’s books and movies. Ask people to tell you their favorites from the list. Which are most popular?

3. Find three people in the newspaper who have had experiences similar to Dahl’s.

4. How were these important to Dahl: (a) caning, (b) the RAF, (c) chocolate and (d) a giant peach?

5. Choose a comic strip character, an item in a newspaper ad and a location named in the newspaper. Use them to write your own story.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.

This week's standard:
Students use biographies and stories to understand the individuals honored by the nation. (Social Studies: History)

(standards by Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi)
