The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. This issue of The Mini Page is available through the eEdition Archive to registered eEdition subscribers

Activities:

1. On one half of a piece of paper, write a nonfiction book title from today’s article. On the other, write the title of a fiction book. Paste newspaper words that describe the books around the titles.

2. Select five comic strip characters. What book would you recommend for each one? Why?

3. Which of today’s books are realistic? Which are fantasy?

4. Assign books from today’s Mini Page to these newspaper sections: (a) international news, (b) national/state news, (c) arts and entertainment, and (d) science and daily living.

5. In your newspaper, find local news you might use for a nonfiction book and a fiction book. Explain your choices.
