Activities:

1. Write the letters I-C-E-L-A-N-D down the left side of a piece of paper. Next to each letter, paste a newspaper word that starts with that letter and describes Iceland.

2. Make a list of three things that surprised you about Iceland. Ask friends and family members to tell you what they know, or think they know, about Iceland. Share what you’ve learned with them.

3. In the newspaper, circle items you would take with you on a trip to Iceland.

4. How are these important to Iceland: (a) North Atlantic current, (b) assembly, (c) sheep and (d) Norsemen?

5. Pretend you on a trip to explore Iceland. Make a travel diary. Write about your pretend adventures in your diary.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.

This week's standard:
Students understand the human and physical characteristics of places. (Geography: Places and Regions)

(standards by Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi)
