Activities:

1. Draw the mascots of the two Super Bowl teams on a large piece of paper. Around the mascots, paste or write words from newspaper stories that describe each team.

2. The names of the Super Bowl teams often tell you something about the city or state where they play. Look up the teams on the Internet to learn how the teams got their names.

3. Use news stories or entertainment stories to find two entertainers you think would be good per formers for the Super Bowl halftime show. Explain your choices.

4. How have these been important to the Super Bowl tradition: (a) American Football League, (b) home stadiums, (c) the Pittsburgh Steelers and (d) the halftime show?

5. Collect news stories and quotes about which team different people predict will w in the Super Bowl. Paste your stories and quotes in a notebook or tablet. After the game, put a star next to each story/quote that was right. How many people made the right prediction? How many made the wrong prediction?

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.
