Activities:

1. Read the stories about different presidents in today’s Mini Page. Now find words in newspaper headlines and ads that describe those presidents. Make a list of the words or paste them on a piece of paper.

2. Talk to family members and friends. Ask them to tell you what they would choose to put in a library or museum about you. Ask them to explain their choices.

3. Which president (a) went to the Naval Academy, (b) was an actor, (c) had a son who became president, and (d) studied in England?

4. Follow newspaper stories about President Obama for several days. Now create a display of his activities by pasting pictures and headlines on a large piece of paper.

5. Design your own “library.” Draw four different rooms. Label the rooms school, entertainment, sports and family. Paste newspaper pictures and words that tell about you in your library’s rooms.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.

This week's standard:
Students use biographies to understand individuals who are honored by the nation. (Social Studies: History)

(standards by Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi)
