Activities:

1. Draw a large yo-yo on a piece of paper. Decorate your yo-yo with pictures, designs or colors. Paste newspaper words that describe the actions of yo-yos around the border of your picture.

2. In the newspaper, circle words or pictures for items that go up and down. Explain your choices.

3. With a friend, make a list of non - physical things t hat can go up and down easily, like happiness or excitement. Discuss your choices.

4. Examine the sports pages of the newspaper. Find a sport where balls are (a) pushed in an up and down motion, (b) moved along a level surface, (c) hit or thrown up in the air, and (d) hit back and forth along a net. Think of individual and team sports.

5. Identify five sports where an object is propelled by human act ion. Describe how an individual’s action moves a ball or other piece of sports equipment.
