The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. This issue of The Mini Page is available through the eEdition Archive to registered eEdition subscribers

Activities:

1. In the newspaper, find pictures of animals that live in or near your community. Combine parts of the animals to develop your own community mascot. Give your mascot a name t hat represents your community. Share your picture with others.

2. See if you can find a newspaper headline or picture that matches the Rio Olympic pictograms in today’s Mini Page.

3. In the newspaper, circle all the sports that will be part of the Rio Olympics.

4. Write the names of the colors of the Olympic rings across the top of a paper. Research the flags of countries that will participate in the Rio Olympics. Find two flags for each color of the Olympic rings. List the country’s name under the color it represents. For example, the United States could be listed under red or blue.

5. Research plants in the Brazilian forest. Find five plants that are important in some way – for medicine or industrial purposes. Write a brief description of each plant and explain why it’s important.
