Activities:

1. Draw an outline of the National Museum of African American History and Culture on a large piece of paper. On your picture, paste newspaper words and pictures that s how historic, political, sports and cultural examples of African American individuals in the United States.

2. Divide a paper into four columns. Label the columns Historical, Political/Military, Entertainment and Sports. List as many prominent or famous African Americans as you can in each column. Now share your lists with family members or friends. Have them add names to your lists.

3. Select three news or feature stories about African Americans today who might have a place in the museum in the future. Explain your choices.

4. How were these important in the history of African Americans in this country: (a) Union Army reunion in 1915, (b) Louis Armstrong, (c) Certificates of Freedom and (d) March on Washington in 1963?

5. Explore the website of the NMAAHC ( https://nmaahc.si.edu/ ) and write paragraphs describing three things that you learned or three items that surprised or interested you.
