Activities:

1. Create an In auguration Information Poster. Paste newspaper pictures and words that tell about the 2017 inauguration on a large piece of paper. Include the names of the new president and vice president, any special events, and the names of entertainers or special speakers.

2. Plan an inauguration watching party. Using ads from the newspaper, select food, drinks and decorations you would have at your party. From the comic strips or news stories, pick five people you would like to have at your party. Explain your choices.

3. What new tradition would you like to see on Inauguration Day? Plan a new event or procedure that you think would make the day even bet ter. Share your idea with family members and friends.

4. How are these part of the U.S. inauguration traditions: (a) Franklin Delano Roosevelt ( FDR), (b) the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, (c) parties and balls and (d) the oath of office?

5. The day after the inauguration, read news stories that report on President Trump’s speech. Make a list of the major points or promises he makes. Select three points/promises that you think are important. Write several paragraphs explaining how you think the new president will accomplish those ideas and why you think they are important.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.

This week's standard:
