Self-driving beer truck makes first delivery
A load 50,000 cans of beer crossed Colorado in the first commercial delivery ever made by a self-driving truck. The trip was a joint mission between the Uber-owned company Otto which designed the self-driving system and Anheuser-Busch which said it could save up to $50 million a year using self-driving trucks.
Class discussion: How many people could be put out of work by self-driving vehicles? Who would benefit from such a system? Self-driving vehicles use computer programs known as artificial intelligence. What other jobs could these specialized programs replace? Engineers? Soldiers? Doctors? Computer programmers? Could you be left without any job to do or money to spend? How should we deal with these changes?
