Learning Resources

The Learning Resources site was created to help adult ESL students reach a higher level of English literacy. Students in regular and ESL middle-school and high-school classrooms can use the site to practice reading comprehension skills. The CNN stories chosen each week are interesting to a wide audience and are often based on a social/cultural studies theme. Each story is offered in the original version and in an abridged format with easier vocabulary and sentence structure for learners with lower skill levels. The stories each have an interactive set of quiz activities, including Word Selection, Multiple Choice, Vocabulary, Sequencing, Questions and Answers, and Your Turn! -- an opportunity to express personal opinions about the story content.
