Fit4Allkids: Creating healthy tomorrows for all children (EM) Keeping kids healthy is important. The Fit4Allkids program shows you how exercise and healthy foods keep you well. This NIE supplement contains tips for children and their families to get healthy and stay healthy. This project was created in partnership with All Children's Hospital and a grant from Kohl's. This curriculum has online journaling activities.

Plugged In: News, views and issues that affect our lives every day (S) Binge drinking and drug abuse are significant problems on college campuses throughout the United States, and Florida is no exception. Hillsborough County continues to lead the state in alcohol-related crashes, injuries and fatalities. This curriculum, geared toward college students, was created in partnership with DACCO and the Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance.

ACC Gridiron In partnership with the Atlantic Coast Conference, the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper in Education program is excited to present the 2009 ACC Gridiron curriculum geared toward middle school students. This program helps stimulate students' interests and knowledge of current events. |

Art in Transition: Albrecht Durer's Renaissance Art (EMS) This teaching poster, focused on German artist Albrecht Durer, is filled with educational activities students can try at school or at home. This project was created in partnership with the Fine Arts Museum of St. Petersburg. |

The Big Read: Their Eyes Were Watching God (M,S) The St. Petersburg Times Newspaper in Education program focuses on Zora Neale Hurston's classic novel Their Eyes Were Watching God. First published in 1937 and set in Eatonville, Florida, this epic tale of the human spirit is considered a classic piece of African-American literature. Boomerang Bully (EM) In the words of student writers, this fictional serial story is based on the all-too-real existence of bullying. The story, which first appeared in the Times , is a springboard for discussion about respect and self-esteem and similar topics, and is reprinted with writing activities. Curriculum developed by the Pinellas County SDFS office is available in all counties served by the Times. |

Building Strong Character with the Tampa Bay Lightning (MS) The Tampa Bay Lightning players and coaches know that winning ways like leadership, integrity, confidence, teamwork, courage, hard work, determination, attitude and preparation are key in becoming a championship team. By incorporating these winning ways into their lives, students can become a champion in all that they do. (EM) One of the primary objectives of Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is to play an active role in conservation and environmental issues affecting animals and habitats throughout Florida and around the world. In this full-color educational poster, you will see endangered and threatened animal species from three areas: Africa, the fragile rainforest of Southeast Asia and Florida. Imagine the unimaginable (EMS) This St. Petersburg Times NIE supplement explores the history of hate and genocide in the 20th century through the eyes of children. The first part of the publication focuses on the Holocaust, an event that can be deemed the greatest tragedy of the 20th century. More than 38-million people died in World War II; 11-million of those people died as a direct result of Nazi genocidal policy.
