The mayor of Moscow has banned snow. Otherwise know as cloud seeding, this process drives snow away from the city to the surrounding areas, by injecting chemicals into the air. Snow is deadly and expensive in this northern capital.
■Class discussion: Is tampering with the weather ever a good idea? What about redirecting hurricanes before they hit land? Bouncing tornadoes into a different path? What kind of consequences may result? For example, what if you live in an area surrounding Moscow's "no-snow zone" and you get whacked with extra snow because of the government's actions?
