2. Find three people in the newspaper that you think Jesse O wens would respect and admire. Explain why you think he would like these people.

4. Plan a training program for an athlete who wants to compete in track and field events. Find equipment in the newspaper that your athlete could use to build up important muscles and develop endurance. Select healthy foods from the newspaper and plan one day’s menu for your athlete. Then find something that your athlete could do to relax or develop his/her artistic abilities. Write a one - day schedule showing the training, eating and relaxing. Explain your choices.

5. Use the Internet to learn more about Jesse Owens’s importance in the 1936 Olympics. What was Hitler’s attitude toward athletes of color before the Olympics? Why was he so disappointed with the outcomes of the Olympics? How did Owens affect people’s thinking after the Olympics?
