Activities:

1. Make animal game cards. Write the name of an animal on a 3 - by - 5 card. On the back, paste newspaper words that tell about the animal. Ask a friend to guess the animal by reading the newspaper words that describe it.

2. With a friend, go through the newspaper and circle all the words and pictures of the animals in today’s Mini Page. Which animal had the most words and pictures?

3. Find three other animals in the newspaper. How could they be added to seasonal celebrations? Describe how you would include them in the holidays.

4. How are these animal characteristic s important: (a) staying in herds, (b ) humps, (c) large, wide hooves and (d) traveling easily over rocky ground?

5. Several of the animals in today’s Mini Page are often featured in seasonal pageants. Identify the animals you might see in a pageant a nd explain their roles in the program.
