Activities:

1. Design a display for the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. In your display, use newspaper words that describe Dr. King.

2. Go through the newspaper and circle any changes that you think would have pleased Dr. King.

3. Collect newspaper stories about people who are protesting non violently to change something. Paste the stories in a notebook. With each story, write a brief paragraph about what it is that people want to change as a result of their protests.

4. What was Dr. King’s impact on our society? Write a letter to Dr. King describing where we are today in relation to civil rights.

5. How would you apply Dr. King’s principles for nonviolent change to an issue or situation today? Identify an issue. Write several sentences explaining why you selected that issue. Then number Dr. King’s principles and write a sentence describing how you would implement the principles.
