Activities:

1. Select three photos from the newspaper that you like. Paste them on a piece of paper. Under each photo, write a sentence explaining why you like it.

2. Look in newspaper ads and circle pictures of cameras, photo equipment or smartphones. What types of cameras did you find? Where can you purchase the photo equipment?

3. Take a photo with a camera or a smartphone. If you can’t take your own picture, choose any photo. Now re - create the photo using colored pencils or paints. What differences do you see in the two versions of the same subject? In what ways is the photo better? In what ways is the drawing/painting better?

4. Collect newspaper photos of closeups of people, sports and news events. Put the photos together in the appropriate categories. Look at each group – what are the characteristics of people photos? Sports photos? News story scenes? List the characteristic of each category of photos.

5. Select a news photo about an interesting story or event. Write a story about what might happen next in that scene.
