Activities:

1. Write the letters G-E-O-R-G-E down the left side of a piece of paper. Find newspaper words that start with those letters and describe George Washington. Paste your words next to the correct letters.

2. What special skills and knowledge did George Washington demonstrate in his life? Divide a piece of paper into three columns. Label the columns Planter/Farmer, Military Leader and President. List the skills and knowledge George Washington demonstrated in each of the three columns.

3. How were these events important in George Washington’s life: (a) the Constitutional Convention, (b) French and Indian Wars, (c) life at Mt. Vernon and (d) surveying?

4. What would George Washington’s social media account look like? Create an account for Washington, like Facebook or Twitter. Write a brief biography for the account. Write three posts that Washington might have put on his account that talked about his life or experiences.

5. Use the Internet or books to learn more about Washington’s beliefs about his job as the first president. Then write a paragraph explaining why Washington was our firstpresident
