Activities:
1. Write the letters A-P-O-L-L-O down the left side of a piece of paper.Paste newspaper words that are connected to the Apollo 11 moon mission next to the letters that start that word.For example, you could paste “astronaut” next to the “A.”
2. With a friend, go through the newspaper and circle words related to the moon, space or space travel.How many words did you find?
3. A future space mission may take people who are not astronauts.What types of people should go? Find four people in the newspaper who would make good space travelers.Explain your choices.
4. How are these related to the moon mission: (a) Gene Cernan, (b) Michael Collins, (c) John F. Kennedy and (d) Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16and 17 missions?
5. Look on the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) website to learn about inventions we wouldn’t have without space travel.Design a brochure or poster showing seven to 10 inventions. Explain how each invention has affected our daily lives.
