Students must analyze background information provided about a current event, draw out the main ideas and key details, and review different opinions on the issue. Then, students should present their own claims using facts and analysis for support.
Study finds more mental illness among students on college campuses
A new study suggests cases of severe mental illness on college campus have been on the rise in the last decade.
■Class discussion: One of the reasons cited in the video for the increase is that more students these days are "not socially connected." What does that mean? Can you blame Facebook and Twitter for increased mental illness and depression? Would the same be true for students entering high school for the first time? What might be different with entry to college life?
