Detroit Newspaper in Education bids farewell
Thank you for your interest and engagement with DNIE. It’s been an honor to provide quality educational materials to your classrooms, to help you inspire kids to read and enjoy the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.
During its 40-plus year history, the award winning DNIE program produced many timely and relevant student supplements, 168 issues of the beloved Yak’s Corner news magazine, an interactive website, and many writing and art contests. Most importantly, we have helped tens of thousands of young people discover the wonders of reading and the importance of newspapers. We’re proud of the impact we’ve had and grateful for your many years of support and participation.
As the newspaper industry continues to evolve and newspaper products have become more accessible to students on digital platforms, newspaper education programs across the country have discontinued at a rapid pace. DNIE has outlasted many and we have our generous subscribers to thank for making that possible. But at long last, the time has come for DNIE to close.
We are still able to offer free access to the e-edition, the electronic replica of the printed newspaper. Access to the Free Press can be ordered now at: https://gannettmediaeducation.gannett.com/newspapers/home?newspaper=Detroit+Free+Press". Access to the Detroit News is forthcoming and we will share the order link with you as soon as possible.
DNIE.com will be open through December 31.
Wishing you a wonderful school year and all the best in the future.
