Students must analyze background information provided about a current event, draw out the main ideas and key details, and review different opinions on the issue. Then, students should present their own claims using facts and analysis for support.

Australian teens face social media shutdown
Meta has warned Australians under the age of 16 that they will soon be removed from certain social media platforms. The world’s first law setting a minimum age for using social media takes effect on December 10 in Australia, but the tech giant is taking action earlier. Some European nations are considering similar laws aimed at protecting younger social media users from online harm.
