Trump to Pence: Don't call governors who don't treat you right
President Donald Trump told reporters during a daily White House coronavirus briefing that Vice President Mike Pence is calling Democratic governors such as Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, despite President Trump saying he should not talk to them if they don't "treat you right." "All I want them to do, very simple, I want them to be appreciative," Trump said. "We've done a great job. I think the media and governors should appreciate it."
■Class discussion: Should governors be more appreciative of the president and his administration? Should Trump be more appreciative of the governors? Is it wrong for governors to criticize the job the president is doing his during the pandemic? Why or why not? Is it wrong for Trump to call critical governors “losers,” “failed,” or “that woman?” Why or why not? Should “playing nice” be a requirement for getting federal help during the COVID-19 pandemic?
