Government projects catastrophic global warming
President Trump has repeatedly called the concept of human-driven climate change a hoax. Now, his administration says not only is warming real, it's so bad that some attempts to stop it are pointless. A National Traffic Highway Safety Administration report on automobile fuel efficiency standards estimates that global temperature will warm more than 7 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century. Therefore, the report argues, freezing Obama-era fuel efficiency standards would have a relatively tiny effect.
■Class discussion: Are efforts to limit global warming a waste of time and money? Why or why not? Are you worried about facing a much warmer world? Do you blame older people for the problems you will have to cope with in the future? Americans individually produce much more greenhouse gasses than most other people in the world. Is the way we live immoral and unfair to those other people? What would happen if the rest of the world’s people produced as much greenhouse gas as we do? Is global warming causing conflicts and war?
