B. The national capital of Ottawa is in southeastern Ontario on the border of Quebec, Canada’s second most populous province after Ontario. Truckers have been protesting at Parliament Hill for three weeks, and the mayor of Ottawa was trying to convince them to leave some of the capital’s residential neighborhoods.
C. The Ambassador Bridge crosses the Detroit River and runs between the U.S. city that actually lies north of the Canadian city.
A. “Just-in-time” deliveries across the bridge are vital to auto builders and supplies on both sides of the border. Several automotive plants were forced to close or cut production last week, idling workers in both nations. Canada is our biggest partner, with Ambassador Bridge trade alone equaling all U.S. business with Japan.
D. Anti-vaccine truck convoys were reported in Australia, New Zealand and France as prominent right-wing figures praised the protests. There have been growing calls by some politicians and pundits for similar protests in the United States.
