B. Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city in Argentina, with a metropolitan population of 16.7 million people. The Buenos Aires Province is named for the city, which was part of the province before it was made a separate federal district in 1880. It is the most populous province in the nation.
C. Burrowing parrots are native to Argentina and Chile, the world’s southernmost countries. The species gets its name from nesting in elaborate tunnel they dig into the sides of sandy cliffs. The British defeated Argentine forces and regained control of the islands it has ruled since 1841.

The nation’s new president imposed severe austerity measures and deregulation that plunged Argentina into a deep recession. Inflation has dropped to 230% annually and the government hopes to get that down to about 123% by the end of the year.
