New Study Links Soda Consumption To Higher Risk Of Death
A new study found that the regular consumption of soda was associated with a greater risk of all causes of death. The study, which was published last week, surveyed more than 450,000 people across 10 European countries. It found that people who drank two or more glasses of soda a day had a higher chance of dying from all types of ailments than those who drank less than one glass a month. That includes both sugar-sweetened and artificially-sweetened soft drinks.
■Class discussion: How much soda do you drink? Do you think drinking soda could make you sick? What other food or beverages could threaten your health? Would you change your habits to live longer? Why or why not? Do you believe you can change your habits? Have you ever tried? How much does your behavior impact your health compared with your environment or genetic make up? Are you responsible for your own well-being?
