Activities:

1. Make a “Be Kind” poster. Paste newspaper pictures and headlines that show people being kind to each other. You may include comic strip characters as well.

2. Find three comic strip characters who are like you in some way. Find three who are very different from you. Explain your choices.

3. Survey family members and friends. Ask them to name three acts of kindness they think are very important. Have them tell you why. Are any kindnesses named more than once?

4. Go through the newspaper with a friend or fam ily member. Circle activities you both like with a green marker. Mark activities that only one of you likes with a red marker. How many reds and greens do you have?

5. Make a list of five ways other people have shown you kindness. Now list the ways you can “pay it forward” by doing a similar kindness to someone else.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.

This week's standard:
Students demonstrate respectful and caring relationships in the family, workplace and community. (Family and Consumer Science: Interpersonal Relationships)

(standards by Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi)
