Activities:

1. Cut out newspaper pictures and words for animals. Paste the words/pictures of animals that live in the wild on one half of a piece of paper. On the other half, paste words/pictures of animals that are domesticated or are pets.

2. Look in the newspaper for pictures of areas where animals might live. Paste them in a notebook. Under each picture, describe the animals that might live there.

3. n the newspaper, circle words or pictures of animals that probably live in your state in red. In blue, circle animals that could not live in an environment in your state. Include all animals – mammals, reptiles, fish, birds, etc.

4. Which animals (a) stalk their prey, (b) are mammals but swim under water (c) can run very fast, and (d) like to eat fish?

5. Look in the sports pages of the newspaper. Find seven sports teams that have animals as mascots. Make a list of the names. Next to each name, describe the positive qualities of the animal that would explain why the teams chose that name.
