Activities:

1. Make a set of “Did You Know” cards ab out wild and domestic turkeys. Draw a turkey on one side of the card. On the other, write an interesting fact. Share your cards with friends.

2. In your newspaper, find places where you could buy a fresh domestic turkey and a frozen turkey. Ask family members where they buy fresh or frozen turkeys for the holidays.

3. In the newspaper, circle words or pictures of foods wild turkeys eat.

4. How do these help you understand wild turkeys: (a) John James Audubon, (b) small reptiles, (c) Spanish explorers and (d) trees?

5. Write a story about a wild turkey. In your story , describe what a day in the turkey’s life might be like.
