Common Core State Standard L.CCS.1/2/3/4 Grades 6-12: Video of a current news event is presented for discussion to encourage student participation, but also inspire the use of evidence to support logical claims using the main ideas of the video. Students must analyze background information provided about a current event, draw out the main ideas and key details, and review different opinions on the issue. Then, students should present their own claims using facts and analysis for support.

Street artists 'Anonymouse' hold exhibit of mice-sized buildings
■Class discussion: What is the difference between “vandalismâ€� and “street art?â€� The street artist known as Banksy uses stencils to secretly paint his satirical artwork on walls and sides of buildings in England. Are his artworks quickly removed? Or, are they celebrated and preserved? Are walls containing his work sometimes removed and sold for thousands of pounds? When does graffiti become valuable art? Does clever humor and attention to detail “sellâ€� street art? How long have humans been covering walls with graffiti and art?
