Activities:

1. Label a piece of paper: A Cowboy’s Life . At the top of the sheet , write This is the life . Under that, paste newspaper words and pictures that show what you would like about being a cowboy. At the bottom of the page, write Challenges for cowboys. Under that, paste newspaper words and pictures that show what you think would be difficult about being a cowboy.

2. Find three people in the newspaper that you think have the qualities and abilities to become a good cowboy. Explain your choices .

3. Create a notebook called Techno - Cowboys . In it, collect newspaper pictures of the technological equipment and processes that modern cowboys use. Explain how each is valuable.

4. How are these important to cowboys: (a) ATVs, (b) horses, (c) ear tags and (d) ranches?

5. There is a whole area of poetry devoted to cowboys and their lives. It is called Cowboy Poetry. Use the Internet to locate and read different cowboy poems. Then make a list of cowboy equipment, jobs and feelings. Use your list to write your own cowboy poem.
