In partnership with Colorado Newspapers in Education, CU Denver now provides lesson plans designed to promote academic preparedness, career readiness, and newspaper literacy. These lessons are aligned to Common Core State Standards and reflect an effort to strengthen the relationship between the K-12 and higher education communities to support student learning. Each lesson plan launch focuses on a career theme and includes the following components:

  • Learning Lynx – An exploration of academic content relevant to the featured career
  • Career Lynx – An exploration of careers in the field and career readiness skills, provided with support from the CU Denver Career Center
  • Teacher Toolkit – tools to support differentiation and lesson plan implementation in the classroom

Architecture

These lesson plans, featuring resources from the CU Denver College of Architecture and Planning, present information about architectural design fundamentals, the design process and provide students the chance to explore different career paths in the field.

Criminal Justice

These lesson plans, featuring resources from CU Denver's Criminal Justice Department, presents learning about crime in the media, and provides students the chance to explore different career paths in the field

Dentistry

This lesson calls upon the experts at The School of Dental Medicine as students learn the science behind tooth decay and consider how to prepare for various careers within dentistry.
