This week's word in the news: QUORUM

DEFINITION:
A quorum is the minimum number of members of a deliberative assembly – such as a parliament or legislature - necessary to conduct the business of that group.


FOUND IN THE NEWS:
Democrats officially broke quorum in the chamber on Tuesday, when the 150-member body convened just after 10 a.m. with only 80 members present.
