The Senate just approved a resolution that would kill an Obama-era internet privacy regulation that stopped cable and internet service providers from gathering and selling information about you. ISPs like Verizon, Comcast and AT&T will no longer need consent from customers to record their information and sell it to advertisers.
Class discussion: Is it OK for internet companies to gather and sell detailed personal information about you? Why or why not? Does having personal information make it easy for advertisers, politicians or even fraudsters to manipulate you? Can you find examples of how this information has been misused? Do internet companies have too much power to invade your privacy? What can you do about it?
