Could the coronavirus spell the end for some sports leagues?

For many sports fans — the coronavirus went from an abstract threat to a reality when, sports all over the globe came to a grinding halt. The NBA and NHL paused their seasons, Major League Baseball delayed Opening Day and the NCAA canceled college basketball tournaments. Now, some smaller professional sports leagues are facing bankruptcy. It is uncertain when all the ballparks, stadiums and arenas will reopen.

Class discussion: How did canceling sporting events affect you? Did you have to stop playing organized sports? Do you care if some professional sports leagues or teams go out of business? Are professional sports more important than college, school or other amateur sports? Why or why not? What sports do you miss watching? Is playing or watching sports more important than saving lives by stopping the spread of COVID-19 through physical distancing?
