Spotlight on Gold Key Award Winners

The Pinellas County Region of The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards programs and Xpress Plugged In are pleased to present the Gold Key award winners for the 2010 Scholastic Art Awards.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards programs are the largest and longest running programs of their kind in the United States. The Awards were established in 1923 by M.R. Robinson to encourage, foster and reward creativity in our nation's classrooms.

The Pinellas County Region is one of 91 regional affiliates of The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and is sponsored by Raymond James Financial and Festival of States. For 2010, 596 art entries were submitted for regional judging. The art judges selected 243 art awards, 5 American Vision Nominees, 67 Gold Key Awards, 10 Gold Key Portfolios, 64 Silver Keys, and 102 Awards of Merit.

The Gold Key winners published today were recognized at an awards ceremony at Gibbs High School on Feb. 11, 2010 and were submitted for awards at the national level. The national award recipients are celebrated each year with a series of high-profile national events. This year's celebration in New York will take place on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
