Spotlight on Christopher Watkins, 11th grade
PCCA at Gibbs High School, St. Petersburg

Christopher on Christopher ...

The name is Watkins, Christopher Watkins. I am 17 years old and a junior at Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg. I major in visual arts, and visual arts is my passion. My favorite mediums are graphic art, watercolor and acrylic. While looking at my pieces, you might notice slight influences from other artistic and musical works. Currently, my biggest influence is a graphic artist named Stanley Donwood, who makes the art for a band called Radiohead, which is also my favorite band. Most of my work derives from inner thoughts and feelings, and the way the world influences me.

You may ask, as many people do, "Where do you want to go with your art?" Well, unlike most artists who want to major in fine arts, I have hopes to attend the University of California, Los Angeles or New York University to study either film directing or screenwriting. I plan to use the knowledge and experience gained at PCCA to enhance my performance as a rising director or screenwriter.

When I am not creating art, I spend my leisure time drinking coffee, watching classic films and reading screenplays. I hope to one day be a part of a beautifully artistic and memorable film that will be sitting in your collection!

Now that you know a little bit about me, I hope my artwork shows you the real person I am. I hate to leave so soon, but I think Steven Spielberg has just called me! Cheers.
