Artist Statement
--Gustan Joseph

Art is, in its most basic form, a symbol designed to evoke a response from the viewer. However, there isn't always a key to explain its meaning, and that is where the observer comes in. It is the observer's half of the art-experience that defines a work's ultimate value and definition, not the artist. Think for yourself; otherwise, art has lost its purpose.
